Robert Gilmore is your conservative candidate for District Court Judge in Sampson, Duplin, Jones, and Onslow Counties. Born into a working class family, Robert was raised with traditional values on the family farm in Keener, Sampson County. Born at only 26 weeks old, Robert was given little chance of survival, and faced immediate adversity. Yet, with the dedication of his hardworking parents and the support of the faith-filled Sampson County community, he persevered. A graduate of Hobbton High School, he received a Christian based higher education at Campbell University. After receiving an academic scholarship, Robert graduated valedictorian of his law school class at the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law. After law school, Robert was a violent crimes prosecutor, upholding the rule of law in cases of murder, rape, armed robbery, serious assault, and other crimes against community safety. While in this role, he was involved in founding the first Veterans’ Treatment Court in the State, which focuses on providing veterans with resources within the justice system to overcome complications with addiction, injury, and mental health difficulty suffered while serving our Country; this gives veterans an opportunity at restorative justice in recognition of his or her honorable service.
Robert lives in Clinton with his wife, Ashley, an auditor, and their two boys: Cole and Lyndon. They attend First United Methodist Church in Clinton and Robert’s home church of Carr Memorial in Keener for special events. He is a conservative Christian Republican, and believes that the role of a judge is to interpret the law as it is written, not to be an activist on the bench. With Jesus Christ as the driving force behind him, Robert has fought throughout his career and life to uphold conservative values. He is honored and blessed to have a large breadth of support from family, friends, colleagues, and the wider eastern North Carolina community. You can count on Robert and he appreciates your support.
